Free online course: Video storytelling for the web

Another great opportunity for all you OVJ’s has opened up in the form of an online course where you can learn how to make video reports absolutely free!

Who and where?

In partnership with the Poynter Institute and the International Center for Journalists, News International University has launched the Video Storytelling for the Web course for all print or photojournalists who want to add that essential video skill to their portfolio. Of course, anyone who is already familiar with video reporting and wants to learn something new is more than welcome to sign up. You can check out the self-directed course here. Joining the course is as easy as creating a quick account with the university and selecting ‘enrol’.

What will I learn?

By signing up for the course, you will learn a great range of skills necessary to get you started on online video reporting. These include:

  • how to choose good stories for the web
  • how to plan and write your story
  • basic knowledge of working with audio and video equipment
  • how to do a successful video interview
  • basic editing skills
